College and Academic Advising

At ABF Academy, we want to ensure that students feel fully prepared for the big life changes that happen after Graduation. Our goal is to help students feel empowered to make the right decisions based on their exposure to colleges/universities. These decisions can be made based on college majors, campus life, financial need, and more!

Deciding which colleges are most appropriate for them can seem like a daunting task, but with the guidance of our Advisor, they will be able to identify a campus that aligns with their best interests. While they are waiting to hear back from the admissions panels, they will be guided through the process of Financial Aid. College isn’t cheap so we make sure to inform our seniors about the several routes they can take when it comes to need-based and merit-based awards.

Individualized meetings with their Academic Advisor begin in Freshmen Year but specialize in College and Planning advising beginning in Junior Year. These advising sessions included but are not limited to standardized testing information (SAT/ACT), the benefits of Dual Enrollment, completing personal essays for college applications, scholarship opportunities, and the financial aid process. All this is done to assist seniors in completing their college applications in a timely manner.

Throughout their high school years, students will use the Scoir program (pronounced Score) to help prepare them for Senior Year. This platform helps motivate students, introduces college majors and their correlating career opportunities, and connects their academic information to their “best fit” colleges. Once entering their Senior Year, Scoir is also used to track college applications, transcripts, recommendation letters, and scholarship monies received.
