Benefits to Enrolling Students at ABF Academy

Since 2007, ABF Learning Center/ Academy K-12 has serviced South Florida’s children, youth, and their families; providing a comprehensive suite of educational programs.

ABF Academy is a School of Choice. Students are not assigned or mandated to enroll.

About Our Model:

Our program is thoughtfully designed to satisfy the needs of our diverse learners. From enrollment to graduation (and beyond!), we’re here to support you. Off-track students and their parents are encouraged to tour the schools to fully understand the many benefits of enrolling including:

Faster Credit Earning Potential: Courses are “mastery-based” not “seat time based” and can be started or finished on any school day throughout the year. This means that while students can only earn, at most, 8 credits per year at a traditional high school, they have the opportunity to earn more at ABF Academy. By attending school regularly, students have earned as much as 2 years’ worth of credits in 1 year of enrollment.

Ability to Graduate Anytime: Students can graduate with a standard, fully accredited diploma as soon as they complete all requirements.

Rapid GPA Improvement: Completed courses are immediately added to student transcripts, making it possible for our students to quickly improve their GPA.

Faster Credit Earning: Our mastery-based curriculum means students are not limited by the traditional 8-credit-per-year schedule. ABF students can earn credits up to twice as fast as conventional high school!

Flexible Scheduling and Shorter School Day:

Academic Support: Our teacher-directed, computer-based program, paired with comprehensive assessments, enabling us to uniquely serve each student and shape individual instruction to address specific needs. Detailed reports provide our staff with robust data to help determine coaching and tutoring strategies for success on required mastery.

Social Support: Our teacher advocate model pairs each student a primary teacher while assigning a secondary mentor to help guide each student through their journey. Family Support Specialists (FFS) work closely with faculty, staff, licensed counselors, and community resource providers to offer comprehensive wraparound services to meet each student’s personal needs.

High School Diploma Program (Full-time student):

Students in grade 9-12 can earn their high school diploma with the flexibility to learn at their own pace. Students, with assistance from our admissions specialist, have the ability to customize courses and allows the them the flexibility to work in a blended learning environment with access to support from teachers and staff. A high school diploma is accredited by the Florida Department of Education and fulfills the requirement for students looking to further their education in college, the military or seeking job placement.

Credit Recovery Program

This program is for high school students who have not completed certain graduation requirements. Students are able to complete and/or retake failed or incomplete courses in order to make up academic credits to graduate high school. We offer all courses required by the Florida Department of Education to earn a high school diploma.

Students who are trying to retake courses are set up on our standards-based, online curriculum, Edgenuity. These courses contain all the content and support students need to master the course material at their own pace.

Summer Educational Program

Summer is the perfect time for students to catch up, get ahead, try a new language, or explore electives. ABF Academy offers a summer educational program that offers over 30 enrichment and reinforcement courses, specifically designed with student interest and engagement in mind, to students from K through 12th grade.

Student-Athletes are encouraged to register for our Summer Educational Program to help advance in the required electives needed for their high school diploma.
